Talking Meet Shamrock.... ringneck

I am not real sure of type yet.. but VERY sweet bird..

I did not intend to let on shoulder by any means today.. but when got to step up.. ran straight to shoulder.. so took advantage of the opportunity and had a pic taken..

but have alot to do with this bird... as will see with the following pics.. of the contitions has been living in for the past year.. and she was proud of how she had cared for him..:faint2:

For some strange reason.. decided to go ahead and buy toys.. he definatly needed some.. have already thrown away one of the plastic ropes in cage and is already playing with the new ones have already put in cage..

the seed mix was feed...

Dumped from dish and gave fresh organic chopped green apple and some of my small hoolkbill with saflower seed mix (by sunseed) that I feed the tiels..

has been happily chowing down on both... the apple is in a seperate dish of course..

gave fresh water with ACV in it..

wondering if adding mineral bolck and beak conditioner blocks would be too much of a change to day or not.. but is talking and squeaking at me while I am at computer... so seams to be settling in well..

Will work on trying to give a bath tomorrow... feathers are sticky... and smells funky...

clicking at me now.. and saying "pretty bird"....

I have already gone out and cut dogwood branches for new perchs.. to replace the PVC ones.... have wood soaking in bleach water right now.. then will scrub again.. triple rinse and put in oven tonight.. perchs will be replaced tomorrow AM..

I will spare you the closer pics.. of how nasty and bad the paint in peeling all over the cage and stand today.. have pressure washer that am borrowing to clean the cage with.. and am going to even scrub with wire brush.. to try and get what loose paint I can off...

I am already starting to cage hunt... cause defintely need a new cage for this bird..

But is now in forever home.. or at least for as long as I am breathing..

What a beauty! Cage probably was nice when she (the original owner, not this crew) first got it & lots of folks don't know how many toys these babies need. Shamrock does look pretty healthy and happy. Can't wait to hear more on his progress!!

I agree - an adult male Alex.
Beautiful bird and it seems like it's in fairly good condition from what I see in the pics (a lot better shape than the cage is in).

Indeed I second (no third!) that of an adult male alexandrian.... 2+ years of age... probably at least 3 or so.

Sadly, I know of an alex (male, too) who's not taken care of well but he still has a better cage than that! (but then again he DID come with the cage... much older one, looks cast iron... so it's help up well considering....). For perches he has a 2x4 and a log that's probably 3-4" thick... and bout all the toys he has has come from what Noel has ignored or chewd on a bit then never touched again...

So, whats the story??? Come on! Spill the beans!
