what a wonderful........ just the best......
the fids are in cool down before birdy bed time now at the end of what has to one of the, if not THE, most special night with my fids. I'm feeling kind of like that "special" moment in a Disney film. All warm and wonderfully fuzzy. All because of those four critters in the living room.
Kelly works a swing shift at the recovery center on Fridays so I pretty much get the run of the house. Which means its max birdy play time! I let them pretty much run free after 4 PM. I go and eat some dinner around 5 or so. When I finish I get Zoey for some close time as she (and I) love the cuddle skritch time. I start watching my recording of America's Got Talent which really doesn't need much paying attention to.
Benji and Cricket are playing on top of Benji's cage. Sophie is exploring as usual. Right then she was on top of Cricket's cage. Curious about everything that one. Benji flies to the floor to run around as he likes. Cricket helps himself to Benji's food. They have been eating together in the evening for a while now.
ext thing I know Benji has scaled the side of the couch and there he is. Well Zoey ain't gonna have it. eventually she is successful in chasing him off the couch.
Sophie is back on the spiral play stand sounding off. On and on she goes. Not the ear splitter but calling out non the less. I set Zoey down and pick Sophie up and take her out side to toss the bad of trash from cage cleaning earlier. This will usually quiet her down. Not tonight. She wants to play with daddy too!! So I play around with Sophie for a bit. Sometimes this can be painful. Not tonight. After a bit I put her back on top of her cage which she promptly climbs down to play underneath.
Cricket is stretching out as far as his little body will to try to reach me. I couldn't resist so I pick him up. He loves to cuddle with my nose. Yeah I know its weird but he seems to really enjoy when I hold him up next to my nose and rub him with it. As I am playing with Cricket I see Benji climb back up the couch. On top of the back of the couch. Right behind me. He hops up on my shoulder to play with Cricket.
Ok, this has never happened in the two years we have had Benji. He wasn't even nervous. Those two played around on my shoulder for about 20 minutes. Benji was preening me with Cricket!! I was so shocked and elated. He was even giving me kisses on my cheek. BENJI!! Patience has been a wonderful thing.
I'm not a good enough author to convey how awesome this evening has been. All four are jabbering away sweetly right now as well. I am so truly blessed.
