Jo at the vets again!

The same thing that happened a couple of weeks ago!

She was fine last night, then this am lethargic and holding the left leg up.

Well, trip tp the vets and ran gram stain, swabs (40.00) and blood panel. WBC (CBC 45.00) was 8000 and other percentages were also in the normal range. He also ran Organ function (82.00), all came back normal. So the only thing left was X-rays again (97.00). He came out and said left leg right, yes, so he brought us back and showed us, she basically has a bone spur near her knee cap! I had to go back to help him position her for xray since we didn't put her under, as the vet tech is too nervous, she took hold after Jo was flat LOL! He told me to go my vet tech cert and laughed!

So $275 later she needs small dose of metacam, then maybe some kind of glucosamine supplements. We are suppesed to kep a journal of the times she acts this way, that is also the only time we need to give metacam, then if the dates get too close together she will be started on the supplement therapy. Good Grief!!!!

At least we know it isn't life threatening as she scared us half to death that night and this morning. I guess when she is in pain, she wants totally babied!

They got a special treat tonight too, steak salad! We do this every once in a while, use romain, red and iceburg lettuces, strawberries, filet steaks, tomatoes, cheese, and pine nuts. I have blissful silence right now LOL!!! I am eating too!!!

Glad to hear that it it not life threatening. I am sure the bone spur is pretty painful at times. I am sorry to hear that your baby is hurting!

Tammy, I'm sorry to hear that Jo is having problems. I'm sure after the huge egg issue awhile back you were hoping she wouldn't have anymore problems. How is the rest of your flock doing??

Thanks! I agree 2 trips to the vet in a short time, yuck! Everyone else is doing great! We had to pick up another B&G last weekend in SC, he is seriously a man's bird and a handful! Plus trying to pack to get ready to move, makes life interesting!
