Smile Bath Question

Good Morning Everyone!

After I posted my last post about my parakeet's nose being watery...it hasn't happened again. I have been watching him very closely. He has not acted any different since the day I brought him home. Thanks for the advice. I do have an avian vet where I also take my dog, so I might go ahead and make an appointment anyway for him to check out Sam.

I had a green-cheek conure and two parakeets before. My parakeets before were mean and not trained to come out of their cage. Nobody abused them or anything...I just didn't think that they could get out of their cage. And my green-cheek thought she ruled the roost even though my ex-husband's african grey thought he was king!!

Anyway...onto my bath question. How do I do that for my parakeet? Or I should say...what is the best way to go about it for Sam? I don't quite remember what I did for my green-cheek...that was a long time ago and with kids and life I have forgotten what i did for her to take a bath.

Thanks for the advice. I am glad I found this site just for bird lovers. It takes special people to care for birds. I love that I am one of them.

Renee

You can simply place a shallow bowl filled with water in his cage. If you want something to place on his cage, this should work well and is even on sale now: Quick Lock Bird Bath
Good luck finding what works well for your bird.

Check out this thread...
How to Bathe and Frequency

Most budgies love to bathe, usually in a shallow dish, being sprayed, or even by getting some wet pieces of romaine lettuce, parsley, or other very green leafy veggies.

thanks...i found a shallow tin and put some water in it yesterday. Sam got in it and splashed around for just a minute then he got out. He would walk around the counter and then come back to the water. I hope he gets more used to it the more i let him do it.
