My Sun is a clown. I totally love his playful spunky personality. He is loud at times but just morning and evening or if someone pulls into my driveway. But I barely notice. Nothing like the Nanday I fostered for awhile.

My guy is 6 yo now. Well out of the cuddly baby stage. But still a love.

Plus he sleeps in a box, on his back with a piece of fleece. It is the cutest thing ever. And if for some reason I forget to put him in his bed he is really cranky the next day.

Yup great birds....but as was said you might wanna spend time around one for awhile.

Good luck to ya!

As far as cage size goes, definitely do NOT get a cockatiel size cage! You want one that's at least 2 foot high/wide/deep. Our sun conure and our quaker each have a cage that's three feet high and two feet deep and wide and that's just perfect as they can climb up and down and all around or run around the bottom of their cages. They don't seem to stay in one spot enough to justify a playtop cage, so our cages are dome tops. They are on stands and I did get them from eBay for less than $100 each. While the quality isn't great, conures aren't very destructive to their cages so as long as the paint stays intact (which is has over the past year we've had both cages) we're happy with them.

I did just get one of those Lixit bird baths this week that somebody on here posted about. Nicky, the sun conure, loves it! She absolutely drenched herself in it. I wish it were just a bit bigger, but it works fine, especially given that it's less than $10. I did learn the hard way that it's better to mount the bath and then pour water into it than to try to lock it in already filled. What a mess! Probably not hard to do if you can mount it near the door, but I could only find space near the back and had to navigate through toys LOL.

Hi.. thank jriley and gbird.. that help me get some idea what to get the right bird cage... I'll be careful not get the cockatiel cages ... gbird, your pic of Pitas and the cage are great picture.. that really help to see what it look like .. I will check into the bird shops and also will check to see if there is one on ebay jriley found for 100.00 not bad price tho ... or will check the newspaper to see if there is one they want to sell for the right price.

Just a small obsession with Harry Potter at my house. Gbird, I've been enjoying your tag line. Sadly we have not yet seen the new movie, but that's on the schedule for this weekend. We almost named our grey Dumbledore, but we don't know if it's a male or female. We figured Quaffle was gender neutral (that was the whole reason for the name Quidditch who ended up being female).
