she needs the permit and yes they do check up on things i have two who came from there . the permit must be carried any time the bird is in public place and must have a band on its leg ,its the law , and they can and would kill the bird if it is not permited, all you have to do is contact them, it plainly states this on the permit as i have both sun conures permit with me even though they were flown to ca... last year ,, good luck no sense in taking a chance with any bird ,

I think she needs the permit also, if the bird is in NJ. The NJ Fish Game and Wildlife has a website and all the info pertaining to exotics is there including the forms and the info required.

Just to clarify, I didn't say that Tinna didn't need a permit. She was just very worried that they were going to take her birds away and I didn't feel there was a need for her to panic.

Hi all, I'm confused. Why in the world would someone confiscate your bird??? What's the deal with NJ and birds? Sure glad I don't live there. My Ozzy is a 25 year old BC Conure who was wild caught. He has a wild caught band. Please explain--thanks Ozzy's mom-Beth
