Getting bigger by the day!

My Gouldian Finch babies are now 14 days olds. Their eyes are open & they have alot of feathers coming in. Their so cute. The parents usually only go in the nest box now to feed them & thats it. They huddle together to stay warm. I peeked in on them tonight & they all looked at me like (who the heck are you) then they all opened their mouths & started begging me for food. I guess they didn't care who I was, they just wanted food. I couldn't help myself, I had to pick one up & get photos. He / she fell asleep in my hand. It was so sweet. Then when I tried to put him back, he didn't wanna go. He kept climbing my hand trying to stay on there. I also candled another pairs eggs today, 3 outta 5 are fertile. Crystal

Ive got 4 or 5 pairs with eggs. But getting them to sit is another story. One pair has 7 eggs, refuses to sit. Another has 6 eggs, same thing & so on. If everyone would just do what they are supposed to do, things would be good. But I guess I can't have my cake & eat it to right. LOL Crystal

They sure are adorable. If you had time, which I know you don't, wouldn't it be fun to tame them right now while they aren't afraid? Mine did the begging from me when they had just fledged. I was working full time then, and just enjoyed the day or two that they weren't afraid of my hands.

I would love to tame them! But with working 6 days a week, I don't think it would work. If it just invovled spending time with them, I could do it but wouldn't it involve more then that? One has more feathers then the others. His are coming in green. My babies are almost grown. Crystal

I've never tamed a finch. I think that when they are at that stage when they look up and beg from a human, and they will let you pick them up, you could feed them easily and hold them a lot. I think then they would look at you and your hands as a good thing.

I love holding them but I would be scared to feed them. Their so small! I've handfed before but that was my Macaws. I handfed both of them but their alot different. Crystal
