OMG Jim, I'm glad Cricket is okay. Hope you are okay too. That reminded me when I first got Tommaso, he fluttered to the floor. I got up to get him and I heard a loud chirp. He was under my slipper. I was so scared, I didn't step down all the way. I scooped him up and he ran under my hair and fell asleep. It was a close call, I thought he would never forgive me. I couldn't sleep. If he didn't chirp real loud, it might have been a different story. Can't even think about it.
Since his flight feathers grew out, he rarely goes to the floor anymore. If he does fly down, I have to shout, "nobody move!" Tommaso flies back to me and we can once again move around the house again. I'm just glad that Tommaso likes to ride on my shoulder or play on his play gym on my desk. It was over a year ago since that happened, but I never forget. I know exactly what you mean when you say that was scary. Morena |

You guys are scaring me! Without my glasses, I am lucky to see the cats on the floor, little alone a bird (don't panic mine are not out and about). Glad you are ok Jim -- and be careful, ballet is no sport for folks over 30 (if we knew anyone over thirty that is)!

Jim. At first I thought that you didn't tell Kelly so that she wouldn't worry about YOU! Then I realized that you'd be in trouble for Cricket's sake. I would have done the same thing you did. I don't take falls as well as I once did either. I'm just a little over thirty. Ok, 19 years over, but who's counting? I'm very glad that everyone is OK.

WHEW!!!!
Glad Cricket is OK!.. and you suffered no permanent damage or disfigurements.... beyond what ya already have... Been in that position a few times... with Petey... and Grace... and Max.... he's got this bad habit of laying in the darkest part of the most shadowed doorways! Yeah, the dog is bigger so an errant step wouldn't be a fatal one to him compared to a bird, but the misstep could still break a leg or do internal damage depending on where my foot landed..... either leads to an expensive trip to the vet. On the downside, I haven't escaped without mementos... I broke a toe during a similar impact with my last Bouv.... For years now, the bone chip grinds the nerves in the joint of my big toe and serves as a constant reminder to me of quadruple checking where I put my feet before I take the step....

I am glad you and Cricket are ok!!! I know how it is when you accidentally step on a bird. I've done that with Little Man once. Just make sure you give Cricket lots and lots of love and manna mash. He may forgive you.....one day.

JIm..it sounds like its time to add a conure to the flock
. Zoe always lets me know if one of the other birds is on the floor. She has a distinct shriek she lets out when one has flown there and she only does it when one has. I am glad to hear you and cricket are ok. Better take something tonight though because its bound to feel worse in the morning

Just read this. So glad you're both okay! Yesterday, the tiels flew to the top of our kitchen cabinets and were getting into mischief, gnawing on the wood and threatening to toss a porcelain pitcher over the edge (They're strong, especially Roosevelt.) I had to climb up onto the kitchen counter via a chair and once I got Roo and Percy, I had to step down onto the chair, which was an appreciable distance from the countertop. This was not done once but three times. I thought I would miss the chair on a couple of trips. To add insult, on my first attempt to get them down, Roosevelt pushed the proffered ladder away that I use to get him to step up and Percy sauntered off, leaving me balanced on the countertop and hanging onto a cabinet edge.
