Lightbulb BB Member Question: Who do you suggest for Avian Vet needs?

We are looking to try and bring on quite a few avian vets to birdboard to help with member questions, give advice, tips, warning signs and so on.

Ideally, we would like to get around 4-6 avian vets if not more that can be regionally located all over the united states (south west, south east, north west, midwest, north east, canada, australia, england so members can use there services if close enough thus a win win situation for everyone involved.

With that said, we would like to hear out who our members use for their avian vet needs? And who would you like us to contact to see if they would be interested in helping out around birdboard. Please include name, contact info and location of where the yare located if you can...

I don't know how much time he has with his practice and his lecture schedule, but Dr. Pete Sakas of Niles Animal Hospital is the best. Number is: 847-647-9325.

I take mine to http://www.acaciavet.petplace.com/ and have either Dr. Carmine Bausone or Dr. Gary Gallerstein, who is also the author of "The Complete Pet Bird Owners Handbook", see them.
I don't know if Dr. G would do it, but Dr. B might be worth a shot.

Good avian vet

Branson Ritchie, DVM, MS, ABVP, ECAMS, Ph.D. is a good vet and he comes to the Fort Worth bird club meetings from time to time as a guest speaker so he may be able to do it.

I will try to contact him as soon as possible and ask him if you let me know that you want him.

He is BIG in PDD research and knows his stuff.

John

There are several good vets at Pennyroyal. I was referred to Dr. Zaffarino, but Dr. Walker too care of my needs. She or some of her staff might be willing to contribute.

I take Rico to:

Perrysburg Animal Care of Ohio
Susan Orosz, PhD., DVM, Dipl ABVP(Avian) and ECAMS

I was told she was one of the best avian vets in this part of the country. She's a sweetheart and always calms me down and keeps me very informed. She provides me with a ton of information every time I see her. I would definately give her a try.
She is board certified in avian medicine in the US and Europe. She is the author of numerous articles and two books on avian medicine. I believe, but don't quote me on this, she was in the process of working on a care guide for birds with Dr. Lafeber Jr., DVM before he died.

Good luck and I really hope she come on board.
Lara
