I'm sorry I didn't see this sooner! Oh poor Paradise! She loves dogs so much too. I hope she gets beter soon. I'm sure she'll be fine in the long run. Are you thinking of taking her to the vets- incase of internal injuries? What rotten luck that the dog got to her first- the same thing happened to me- I had Ash on my arm going for a walk on the beach and a little white fluffy dog scared her and Ash jumped onto the ground and in half a second I saw the dog lunge and shake its head on the spot Ash landed, but in another half second I grabbed the dogs scruff and scooped Ash up unharmed! It happens so fast... Ash is used to dogs too, and plays with my big dogs, but it's often the little dogs that are most dangerous. Lots of good vibes going your way! Take care.

So far she seems OK this morning, she is using her claw, but she didnt say goodmorning. She Always says goodmorning before we take her cover off. Come to find out the dog was a Jack Russel and I dont know much about them, but I hear whatever they catch they kill, so I guess we are lucky. Yes the little dogs are the worst.

As soon as my husband gets up we will clean her claw ( actually its her wrist, don't know what that is calleed on a bird ) real well and check her out real good.

We wont be home until tomorrow and they dont have any vets on the water. LOL, so If we see any thing abnormal she will go to the vet on Wed. But she seems to be doing ok, probably still a bit in shock.

I'm glad she's ok. You're doing really well!
My friend had his cheek ripped open by a jack russel when they were playing together! Jack russels are responsible for more bite/ attack cases than any other breed of dog. KEEP BIRDS AWAY FROM THEM! They're like the ferrets of the dog family. They kill everything. I've never met a jack russel that wouldn't chase a small creature. I must say that as a WELL TRAINED pet they're great- but aren't they all?

Oh I'm sorry this has happened. The same thing happened to Willow about a month ago. She jumped from her cage and ended up in the middle of our Schnauser's toys so the dog took her into her mouth. The bird was freaking the girls were freaking! It was horrible!! She lost several feathers but that was it. I rushed her to our breeder so she could check her out but other than the stress she was fine. I hope yours is fine too. Will probably do her a world of good to get home in her own cage. Travel safe!

Really? My schnauzer is such a wimp when it comes to our parrots that if Scarlett even so much as looks at Bella, the poor dog is hiding!! I thought all schnauzers might be bird wimps!!

Now, put a rabbit or mouse in her path, and watch out!!

Small dogs were bred to hunt small animals. Even when a dog is domesticated and tamed, we have to be really careful. My dog listens to us no matter what- - - unless she smells a rabbit. If she gets on a rabbit trail, that's it. No stopping her until she finds its home!

As the day has progressed she has been returning to normal, telling everyone to "be quiet? LOL. and when we started the engines she said "bye bye", I layed down to take a nap on the sofa and she told me "nite nite". So she is fine, we will take her tomorrow and have her arm checked out, I don't want it to get infected. We put some more neosporn on it this morning and I cleaned and disenfected all the cages on the dock beore we left, we have only been gone a week and a couple of days and I change the paper and wash there dishes daily and give the cages a wipe down, but I didnt want to take any chances with that injury.

They have been different birds since on the boat, I have spent 99% of the time in the cabin while we were traveling to keep an eye on them, but they wouldnt do this stuff at home. See pictures. Other than Paradise's run in with the monster dog, it has been a really good trip. They have seperate cages the other one is on the other side of the cabin. They need to get used to the boat because we are hoping to get a bigger boat in about a year and live on it and do the loop.

I knew she'd be alright, exactly the same way daisy recovered Lol. Yeah its normally the little dogs that do it. Although with daisy the dog wasnt "little" but was kinda the smaller part of the medium size...she was a puppy though. Glad she is ok.
