Are you talking about happy huts where the birds sleep ? I have not tried mine with those ,but I hope too soon when I can afford to get them some .

ahhhhh not to worry...I might have a spare pair here

seriously tho.....new carpet is toxic to birds. I dont see any warnin on that. I also see vinyl tiles being used. not sure I would want my guys knawin on that....

I also had a friend who's grey got caught on carpet used on the wall in a flight, who hung herself.

I guess with anything, you have to use caution because if there is trouble to be found, it will be.....

there is a new product that will be on the market soon. It will be a nice new safe alternative to the hanging huts.

I was actually just thinking about poor Malachi yesterday and how he doesn't look comfortable sleeping. Willow has a Happy Hut and loves it. Sleeps in it only! I thought about trying to come up with something for Malachi but bigger for his size. That is a neat idea.

My lovebirds love their birdie beds. They have a triangular hut, a cozy hut completely covered up except for the hole, a tube, and a coconut-bottom-half hanging and they sleep in them all every day. Depending on the time, they will go to one of them and take a nap, or go to sleep in the triangular hut or the cozy hut. I just bought a new one, a triangular hut in a larger size, so that three can cuddle up there.

since its a doityurself thing, one could probably substitute the toxic things, for safe stuff. thanx for bringing that up lisa.

Smile Making a Hoop -- play or sleep

My birds sit on the top of the huts a lot, so the outside of the huts will occasionally get some poop. But not inside. I made a tube and covered it with cotton so the birds can play with it all day. You take a plastic bottle of the right size, cut the ends so that it will allow them to move freely through it, wash it very thoroughly (like in the DW), and then either hang it or cover it first. I used an old sweatshirt arm to cover mine, put the arm through the center part and pulled it out to fold up completely over the inside. Then hang it horizontally. It is so easy, I made several, one for each cage. I know plenty of others who have these -- either to play in or sleep in.
