I use white paper towels. I nick them from the supply closet downstairs if I run out at home This may sound funny but I like to be able to see what Beetle's droppings look like -- with white paper towels, I can tell if something is off right away.

Newspaper (black ink on white paper) is also safe. You can use plain white paper, too.

If, for whatever reason, you MUST use bedding, think along the lines of Carefresh. Carefresh Ultra is white and is probably the best choice.

HTH,

I have gotten rid of the corn cobs. Thanks for the advice. I'll be using the newspaper.
If there is one thing I'm sure of, though, is that the tiels aren't lacking anything in their diets. I think they were just picking at the poop. They are on a pelleted diet and I give them fresh foods (all sorts of those premade mixes like Crazy Corn) and they love them and eat them. I also give cooked veggies and if I'm in a good mood I give them some Avi-Cakes. I've watched today and haven't seen any poop picking, so perhaps it was an anomaly.

How paranoid should I be about the corn cob bedding that they were exposed to? For now everyone seems healthy.
