sleeping schedule

is there any issues that could arise from my birds sleeping according to my schedule. they are awake from when i get home from work, 4-5pm and go to sleep around 2am...they are covered up so its dark for them, they seem quite happy and fine with it considering i spend all day after work with them hanging out. and the schedule stays the same on the weekends too.

How much total sleep do they get? In other words, what time do you get up for work in the morning? I'm sure they nap quite a bit during the day when you are at work, though. How old are they? If they are young and have had this schedule for a long time, it's probably going to be fine. From the little I know about conures (had a green cheek), they aren't nearly as prone to problems as say, cockatoos (which I have now)!

What your doing is time shifting their daylite hours to meet your schedule. As long as you try to keep their waking hours in sync with natures seasonal changes, it should out work fine.
In the wild they'd wake up at dawn and bed down at dusk. The day/night ratio varies by season, which affects both their activities and general health over time. Also keep in mind the quality of lighting you use, they need proper lighting to break down nutrients.
The potential noise factors, that can disrupt their sleep pattern, is what would bothers me more about this arrangement.

Hi,
I have a dyh amazon and until recently a senegal. I work nightshift and so we stay up late when I am not working. Unless you also get up early, I have never noticed a problem with sleepdeprevation in my birds. Just make sure they get enough total sleephours! Also, to prevent vitamin D defficiencies I use a growstick and at least two growbulbs as close to the cages as possible. My birds are healthy and their colors are vibrant. It's good for you too! Good Luck, Dee

i get up for work at 6am. i keep the lights off and get dressed outside of the room and am as quiet as i possibly can(they dont make any noise when i am getting ready). i put them to bed at average 1-3am. and their cage is uncovered at 5pm when i get home from work, sometimes 4pm. from when i get off of work they have natural light, i just open the blinds and let the sun light the room. when it gets dark, i use the ceiling light, a 60w flurest bulb until around 11pm when i then just turn on a little desk light with a shade to give my rats a tiny bit of more darkness so they can enjoy their nighttime(its still pretty bright but doesnt completely light up the room like the one on the ceiling does).

i have had the birds since feb of this year, i was told they are 2 years of age. theyve had this sleeping schedule since then.

they average 12 hours of sleep minimum. they seem to be just fine with this, no sleep deprevaition at all. my house is pretty quiet during the day, all adults here that work, so its pretty empty.
