Red face A Question about setting up cages for breeding birds

I am starting an Avery of my own. I want to raise birds I have experience hand feeding baby birds and I love doing it. I have three pares of cocktails, two pares of lovebirds, three pare of parakeets and one pare of red rumped parakeet. I have them all in a back room in my home with carefully controlled heat and humidity. there is a huge window in the room so they get lots of bright natural light. All my birds are in separate cages with at least two toys in each cage a verity of perches including natural wood I get form my sisters apple tree. don't worry the branches are not sprayed I also have a bee pollen perch in each cage. The cages are large and I give them time out of the cage as well. I have nesting boxes on several cages and the birds are going in and out of them. I have also put Aspen bedding in the boxes. My question is? Is it ok that I have toys in the cages or will this distract the birds for starting families? I was told by an acquaintance that the cages should be very simple no toys and just a couple of perches. My birds are pets as well as potential parents most have been hand fed and are pretty tame. I want them to be happy and well adjusted so I don't want to remove the toys. can anyone give me some advice.[/I][/B][/FONT]

everyone is different... toys WILL NOT keep them from breeding and raising babies.... but individule breeders and aviaries all have different opinions! I personally think they should have some thing to do should they choose. I think its healthy for them... say when they are not breeding or for the mate that is not in the nest box.

Definately give them at least a little bit of stimulation, in one way or another. Toys won't be any bother in their cages.
