FORT LAUDERDALE (CBS4) ― "Fred" the Cockatoo, who played alongside actor Robert Blake in "Baretta" is by far one of the most recognizable and famous feathered friends around. Now however, there's a South Florida Cockatoo that may give "Fred" a run for his money.

She is cute. Nekkid nekkid birdie. But she needs a better diet plan or she wont live to be as old as they hope for - poor thing.

I read the story and see slide show for Fred, but the only video I can see is one For Oscar the Featherless Bird. Blonde roots I guess LOL!

I didn't see a box of candy only this:

She also eats anything she wants. In addition to a healthy diet of bird food, Oscar loves McDonald's hash browns, cottage cheese with fruit mixed in, and even blueberry pancakes.

Ours even get some Fries now and then, and pancakes, and I am sure alot of us "treat" our birds to things not so healthy LOL!

Seeing pictures of birds like that just breaks my heart. It's like seeing a walking skeleton or something... oh, it makes me want to cry. I know the point of the story is that she's happy, but I can't help but feel awful...

I agree.. Seeing that poor bird sends up red flags all over for me. Poor thing.

Thats the reality of Beak and Feather Disease.
Thats why its important for us all to do our part, to find a cure.
One never knows when it will hit the ones we love so dear.

A lot of the stuff I've found has been conflicting.
