Hi everyone iam having a bit of a problem.Ok ill start, and all im expecting of you all is help pertaing what i should do about switching food or staying with the same food or the ultimate miracle cure hahah yea right.Ok my GCC 3.mos and a couple weeks old has been eating well and eats Zupreem fruit blend and a seed mix the seed mix is almost totally out of his diet BUT NOW that he eats pellets he somehow thinks the orange ones are better.I noticed this because for 2 days he has had ORANGE poo yes i said orange and if you know about my other poo post you know im not mistakin. So i look in his food bowl and BANG(He has 2 dishes connected to each other and 1 stays empty so he chew over it)I see all Orange crushed pellets and like MAYBE 2 red/green ones/yellow ones in his dish.He poo'd "normal" every since i had him Minus the first poo incident,So I Know without question its the Zupreem "Orange pellets" doing this so dont question that,he's healthy and has been to the vet within a month time too.So what should be done ou guys and gals?Switch foods? He just started eating pellets and isnt even %100 percent fully on'em but dang near there.Try to work through the orange only problem?Nah i'd rather find somthing with no dyes in it,but im scared he will just revert back to seeds if i try to give him somthing different than what he's JUST getting used to.So plzzz help someone out there has just the answer i need but it seems for sure the dyed Zupreem must go,or i cant see him ever having normal poo(Even tho he did have normal poo when he ate less pellets and more seed and he wasnt just eating the orange ones).Thx Alex

Sneak in half a bowl of Zupreem natural. Wouldn't it be funny if he picked out the natural ones? Changeover, and orange poo problem solved! My Lukey LOVES the parrot sized Zupreem natural, dipped in water. All my cockatiels LOVE the little round Zupreem natural and my canary and finches LOVE the itty bitty finch sized Zupreem natural. They all get lots of other things, so they don't get bored.

My tiels like that "Garden Goodness", and I think Lukey eats it too. I put it in corn bread and they all seem to like that. Oh, and that is the natural kind of pellet in that garden goodness mix. I do find the "Natural" at my Petsmart. Don't get scared when you see the red peppers on the bottom of the cage. If they get wet, they look like blood!

Hmm, I just get used to colored poo. The FIDS like the taste more than the natural stuff (harrisons) and its easier for me to find.
I also use drs foster & smith heat-to-eat type foods. Its got some seeds, nuts, pastas, and flavors. and fruits and veggies. it eventually balances out.

LOL.... you sure that your little guys hasn't been sneaking out of the house to come over to have a little chat with valo and bella? they both do the same thing - pick out certain color of zupreem fruit... which one actually varies. and yes, i've been there - almost ran with fresh, orange poop to the lab to examine.
try feeding variety - i don't believe in picking one brand/type of pellets and sticking with it... make some birdie bread for changing foods, offer different pellets - i have the whole set of zupreem, which bella loves, but valo actually prefers harrisons. don't feed pellets all the time - get some bean/pasta mash, birdie bread, fresh veggies with some seeds are a hit here, and pellets. that should balance it out

other than that - sounds good to me, if he likes veggies you can feed those daily. our birds get them daily, and like with humans there's no such thing as too much veggies. but make sure to mix them up and don't feed just one all the time. fruits are fine but since they're higher in sugar, don't feed them too often. every other day is good if he likes them, or even a little less. you can also mix them up with the veggies if you have a little time on the weekend or so, you can also try to make some birdie bread. it's real good for them, and contains a lot of healthy stuff. and it's another variety which i'm a big supporter of.... Birdie bread for amateur bakers - BirdBoard.Com glad to hear though that he likes his new, healthy diet ![]()
