My IRN is almost done... I was getting a bit worried... never saw so many feathers come off at one time!
Ringnecks deffinately molt different than budgies! Can't wait to see what his tail feathers will be like. It is his first molt! One thing I was pondering over was how cool it is the way they molt. Certain type/size feathers at a time. They are just a wonderful creation and a marvel! |

We need to start a molting support group for our birdies - motto "You're not the only one losing feathers, sweetheart!" Humphrey is molting weirdly this time - all the underside 'fluff' is going first. Yesterday and today he lost a tail feather and two flights. Pin feathers all over the face too, and scratch, scratch, scratch. He's getting misted every day which he hates, but he's happier afterwards. You'd think he'd make the connection between being sprayed and being more comfy, but oh well!
He hasn't stepped up again, but we haven't tried much. He did put one foot on the perch, so I praised him for that.
