Just making sure my bird isn't neurotic

Stewie likes to rub his beak along my arm and clothes. At least I think he likes it because he does it a lot. Sometimes he wipes his beak side to side, but mostly forward and backwards.

He's not 1) cleaning his beak off or 2) preening me. It looks a little bit like preening, but not really. It's more like he's licking me the way a dog or cat would.

??

I assume it's a sign of affection; just wanted to double check and see if anyone else's conure does this.

Skittles has also been doing this lately! How strange. I don't know what it means though. Maybe just another conure quirk? Crazy birds...

Nope, not a conure quirk! My tiels do this to me also. I have also seen them do it to their perches, the cage, toys, even my blanket on my bed and not when they are cleaning their beaks. I always took it as them saying "MINE" but I could be totally off.

let me tell you one good advice - once this thing starts, change your shirt as soon as you get home from now on .... bella does the same thing, but she also grabs onto the cloths and pulls - little holes in all my shirts

LOL. Absolutely first thing I do when I get home is change... just because *I* need my comfy clothes. But when I was younger we had a Maroon Bellied and she loved going after the little plastic things on bra straps. She just bit right through the shirt and broke the little adjust-y things. All my bra straps had to be stitched and all my t-shirts had holes in the same places.

Ashling does something like that- on me and also on the floor when she's playing with toys, or hopping around like a kangaroo. She also smooshes her fluffed up cheek against my hand like a cat does! I can't resist that! Man birdies are cute!

Oh yes, ours does the same thing. Sometimes he'll try to clean off because he has a bit of leftover food hanging on his beak... but he tends to rub himself on us, our arms, our necks, shirts.. he's even started doing it with the computer... which has become a favorite place for him to perch *shakes head*

My tiel will slighly peck then rub his head on my hand wanting me to rub him. Like you would a dog. He will go in a trance like state. Even falling a sleep. Soo cute!
