Blue collar ringneck, ??? we might be adopting on Sat. ??
Hello to all,
Have been soo busy and not on BB for a while. We are going to see a Blue Collar Ringneck on Sat and might adopt her, can anyone tell me anything about them and perhaps send a picture of one. My husband found it on line with no picture and the owner tells very little about it and we are going to drive about 2 hours to see her. thanks,

I am guessing it is a male Indian ringneck; I have females too -- I know we have several members with males, so if you dig around a little in this forum, you will find a photo of one with a ring. Absolutely adore them! Can't wait to hear more about yours (if you get it....but of course you will)

Red192,
She/He was soo sweet and living in the most HORRIBLE of conditions, we just had to save her, she looks like your blue parrot in your signiture. Will post some pictures asap. This poor thing shared an 18 x 12 x 12 cage with a Sun, that was not the worst of it though, the worst was there was over 6 months of seed and waste about 3 feet or more on the floor, can you imagine how thick the layer was inside the cage. Not fit for any living thing to live in.

Catschair,
Just saw your post, yes we know how big the AMX card it, but it wouldnt be wise to give it to your Fid in a petstore. LOL.. Yes that is what it looks like, so it is probable a he??? I will post some pic's soon, she is in shock at being in a clean cage with totally fresh food, she was eating the fresh fruits and vegies like they were candy "that was not allowed". There was one toy in the cage that looked like it was about 10 years old and full of crust, that not even "rats" would want to chew on it. It was awful. We wanted to take the Sun too, but he wouldnt part with it.

I'm so glad you brought him home. Does he have a ring on his neck or not? Any idea how old he is? If it is a youngster, you can't really tell gender from the lack of a ring, but if older, the lack of a colored ring means he is a she! You will notice I gave Gelly the boss' credit card, not my personal one <g>, not at all sure what she does with the computer when I am not at home.
Micah, it all depends. I adopted Gelly from the LA pound for next to nothing. There are several breeders and stores who sell ringies in the area, but if you are patient, there are often IRNs on CL or at rescue groups. |

She is buying all those new toys that keep ariving at your door when you get home, you both are very smart, you give her the boss' CC and she knows how to spend it on the computer. Who ever came up with the expression "bird brain". LOL.
We were told she is a she and was not told any age, the seller ... well lets not go into that... she/he, sounds like perhaps a she now.. has a very very light ring around the neck but not a dark or different color ring. As to a youngster, how young? Either way, he/she, probably a she, is sweet to both hubbie and I and wants to make friends with all the other fids too, they on the other hand are not so sure. She is so quiet too, is that because she is still in shock or are they quiet type birds. I have Suns, Amazon, Hans Macaw and another new adoptie Umbrella Cocatoo. I have a feeling she/he will be the quietest of the "clan".
