Talking How much trust do you have in your bird?

We should all have some trust in our bird and they should all trust us, since we are their caretakers, their parent and probably their best friend.

But what I mean with my title, is with your trust you have in your bird, what are the odd things you allow it to do you that most people would find scary?

Like mine. I have two cockatiels and one of them who is very bonded to me, likes to preen my eyelashes, eyebrows and sometimes preens my face.

I have enough trust in him to not poke my eye out, but of course, I usually close my eye, becuase you know, birds.. curious little things.

So, let's discuss!

Any similar things?

Yeah, same here, when I have mascara on, I have to keep Ash away from it and he constantly crawls up my shoulder to check it out.

I have that same thing with my tiels, they always love the glasses.

I had a conure that would fly into the bedroom in the mornings and if I wasn't awake he'd sit on my chest lift up eyelid and say "good boy rocky"

Jerry likes to fly to my head, climb down my forehead, and perch on my glasses

These things aren't odd to us, but for an outsider it would be. When I was visiting my mother last weekend, my sisters, mom, an aunt, nephews, brother n law n step father were amazed that I was letting her drink MY water out of my glass. Cleaner than my mom's dog licking my face if you ask me.

Scarley also goes after my glasses, but I don't trust her around me when I'm on the phone cos it never fails,,,SHE ATTACKS MY EAR! OMG! She also climbs into my shirt. I'm just toooo ticklish for her to stay long.

But for the most part I trust her. She gets out alot more than ever. Such as riding in the car, going to the store & bank with me. People seem to enjoy her little visits.

I trust Ashling with probably more than I should- but she's pretty gregarious and not very flighty by nature. She's allowed to be anywhere- she preens my eyelashes too and has never ever bitten my face or shown ANY aggression to my face. She bit my little sister on the eyelid, but that's cause my sister isn't good with birds ans scares her. We birders also trust our birds with being healthy by sharing food and kisses! :D
My cockatiels lunge and tap at faces with their beaks so I don't really trust them... and the budgie would chew a hole in my eyelid... LOL
Yeah it's funny that this is all commonplace for us, but to other people it is pretty amazing that we share food, drink, plates, glasses, beds (snuggles) couches, facial hair etcetc. One of my friends wouldn't even have Ashling on her shoulder!

Those things all sound so cute! My tiel will bite my ear if I don't give scritches. Other than that she's pretty easygoing. I am hoping that my green cheek will love me as much as my tiel does, because he is so cool, but kind of aloof...I've only had him since February, so maybe it's just too soon for him.
