Exclamation ....Toying with ideas...

Hey,

I have been toying with the idea of building an aviary in my back yard. I am/was looking into getting a conure, but now I am thinking about getting a couple more parrotlets (maybe 3-4 max). But I still want to build the aviary either way. What I want to know is if I get the right materials is it a good idea to bring my "Flock" of parrotlets out to play in it? They would all be clipped and just climb and jump around in it. The perches will all be hanging from the ceiling far enough to discourage them from climbing the sides (but the sides would still be safe for them!) Is there any "special" pre-cations I would have to take for this to work? or would I just have to make it parrots safe?
I would have screen around the aviary to prevent mites, and other insect transmitted diseases!

P.S. My mom has button quail, would they be able to be kept at the bottom? would it be bad to keep them in the aviary with the parrotlets?
(they are tested and don't have any diseases!)

Tips and suggestions are always welcome!
Thanks,

Micah

I can't think of any precautions besides making sure it's parrot safe and that they can't get out and nothing can get in. Also, make sure part of it is covered so they can get out of the sun if it's too hot. I have no idea about the quail but maybe you could just make a screen divider to put between the top and bottom and have the p'lets in the top and the quail underneath so they can't get to each other. I have never built and aviary but I am considering building one for my tiels...if I ever get the motivation to do it! I'm sure someone else will come along with more ideas and suggestions.
