I only have one bird now, but at a time did have 5 and they ALL tossed food. The biggest culprit of tossing for no reason was my CAG...oh how he loved tossing for the heck of it. But I never limited portions, I mean think about it...they don't have a whole lot to do in captivity, they need to be able to act like birds, and that's what birds like to do...toss foods! LOL So I would indulge them and highly recommend others to do it too. It's great bird fun and yes, we have to clean it up. I've spent my share of time with the steamer getting cantaloupe off the mini blinds, etc, and complained about it at the time. But I was happy to do it and would love to have them to allow it again.
Let them be happy and enjoy every minute you have with them! Linda & HRC~[color=Blue]

Tossing Food
I read somewhere that Parrots also toss food naturally as a way of feeding/fertilizing the forest floor.
Don't remember where, just that nature provides for smaller forest creatures through the foods flung down by birds. Abbie is doing a terrific job of feeding ants! |
