On the flip side, if you weren't so sad in these situations then you also wouldn't be able to cry from joy when Humph lands on your head or does some other thing that just melts your heart in a good way. I feel like you do with the birds, too. Scott keeps telling me that he's going to ban me from my boards because I get all choked up when someone I hardly know loses one of their babies. But if I didn't feel that way, then I would never know what it feels like to want to cry just from an overwhelming sense of love for this tiny creature sitting on my knee preening. It's all in the yin/yang of life, my friend. If you can't appreciate the need for the rain, then you can't appreciate the sun.

I am glad I am not the only one!!!!
Every time there is a natural disaster somewhere in the world, the first thing in my mind are the animals and children (not the other people) and I feel guilty about this!!!
And when I was a child and went to the teather to see a Lassie movie, every time she was in danger, I would start crying uncontrolably and my father had to take me out of the movie theater to calm me down.
I don't even have to mention "The old yeller" - I am traumatized to this day!!!!
Also, I still have not been able to watch any episode of "animal cops" on Animal Planet. It really disturbs me!
I am hopeless!!!! But now at least I know I am not the only one!!!

I remember a couple years ago there was a fire in a boarding house in a Brisbane suburb. A few tenants were killed but I saw a pic in the local newspaper of a cockatiel that had been pulled out of the fire. I was so grateful the tiel had been rescued! I feel guilty too that I worry more about birds than people sometimes though I wouldn't say this to anyone else but you guys because anyone else in normal life would think I am crazy.
