Devastated
Poppy escaped today.
I've spent hours outside with her in the trees, I've wheeled Lily outside to encourage her down... they just chatted a bit from afar, but Poppy refused to come down. Then she was chased from tree to tree by wood pidgeons and a crow until she was out of sight and not responding to my calling her or Lilys calls. I've left her cage open outside just incase, but I'm not stupid... I know she's gone. I don't feel like I deserve Lily or Matilda so I'm going to find them better homes. So, this is my goodbye to you all in this board. Craig

Craig, I can't even imagine how upset you must be right now. Please don't do anything rash (like rehoming your other birds) while you're distraught. Please stay!

Craig...
Accidents happen. Will you deprive your birds your love, and remove YOU from them just because you feel bad? Think of your babies and as mean as this sounds ...not YOURSELF. THEY need you. THEY love you. Do not make their lives miserable by hurting them for an accident. It wasn't their fault, do not punish Lily and Matilda. An accident happened, LEARN from it, don't let it destroy you and your other birds. /hugs you

I'm so sorry. Don't rehome your babies. The fact that you're this upset shows that you care about them!!
Everyone does stupid things. I let me dog get hit by a car two years ago. . .thankfully she survived, but there's a scar on her leg, a limp in the rain, and a misshapen toe now that will always remind me of how STUPID I was. But it doesn't mean I don't love her more than anyone possibly could and spoil her rotten ten times a day. Don't ever give up.

Don't give up yet! Put posters up, call pet stores, tell neighbors! There is still a good chance she will come back. I would walk around a set radius and call her and whistle, or see if she responds to contact calls. Be positive and dont' be to hard on yourself. We all screw up sometimes. Thinking positive thoughts for you.

Craig, I have nothing to add -- the other posters are right. Keep hoping and looking; keep your other babies close at hand and know we are all here to support you, and it is just random chance that this misfortune befell you and not any one of us. Hurry home, Poppy -- Dad needs you! |
