Penny Lane's First Week Home!

Hi All!

We picked up our FEMALE (figures) CB Conure (Crimson-Belly News - I get to take him home soon!) on Saturday. We decided to name her Penny Lane, eventually (because all our cool names were boy names...) Penny was 3 months old yesterday, I spent most of last week at home, making sure she was ok. Silly me - she's as independent as any other conure (admittedly, she currently won't get off my shoulder...)

I'm amazed how how the Husband (self-professed crazy cat-man-lady) has taken to her, and vice versa - she will sit for hours on his shoulder, quietly squawking and snuggling up to him, preening his hair, while he plays computer games. Very cute!

She has pretty much mastered "step up!" (although not "step down" - how do we do that?), and has now TWICE pooped on command. The downside there is that she seems to be practising saying "Poop!" really quietly. We're also hoping to train her to show off her wings - she seems to have a huge capacity to learn new things!

So this is what having kids is like :)

That is unbelievably cute! Congratulations! I have never seen a Crimson Belly Conure, she is beautiful!

Baby girls have their way with their daddys, that's for sure. Poppy says "hey sugar" ... he got that from my husband talking to Tula, our female cat!

In Penny Lane the barber shaves another customer,
We see the banker sitting waiting for a trim.
And then the fireman rushes in
From the pouring rain, very strange.

So cute! I just love those red feathers! It's so cute when they half- close their eyes...
To teach them to step down, you get their favorite treat and hold it next to a perch- you put your hand level with the perch and say 'step down' and the birdie should hope into the branch to get the treat :D
