What a good idea to wrap in vet wrap first, and then add the rope! Do you have a photo?

plastic chain

Hi I also make all the bird toys. The favorite of the Goffins is a length of plastic chain. I take veg taned leather and run it through each link and put a plastic bead on each end with a knot. They play and fight for hours with it. I found that they liked it better if I used a longer length of leather.Joan

Whiffle ball with parts

I make whiffle ball toys for my BG macaw that I hang in his cage.

I use a large whiffle ball and cut about 20 strands of Paulie rope about 15 inches long. I thread the paulie rope through one hole in the ball and out another. I then thread plastic and wooden parts of all shapes and sizes and knot the ends. The wiffle ball is soon covered with all sorts of great things to chew on and I tie 2 strands of Paulie rope together to make a ring for a quick link. The whole process takes about 2 hours and it lasts my Nimo quite some time.

I found this site which has lots of ideas on how to make your own toys from edible ones to swings and T-bars: http://www.birdsnways.com/birds/ideas.htm

I can't wait to try some out on my little Captain! :icon_mrgr

It is also a great craft idea to do with your kids...get the whole family involved!

wodden dowels. popcycle sticks, blocks of wood and a dremel tool and you can have a fun couple of hours making toys. My Hahn,s loves nothing more than destroying a popcycle stick "tree".
