Anyone Care to share???

I was wondering how many people like to make their own bird toys and play thing? My kids and I have spent hours of fun quality time making our own things. I thought it would be nice to share web sites and/or places that we have found great deals/bargains on fun stuff!!!
I love dollar stores for baby toys to use the parts from such as rattles, baby keys, dice, dominoes etc.I drill my own holes.I also recycle things like plastic lids & drill holes to add to toys.I buy small straw hats from Michael's Craft store for preening pieces on toys.We have a Mill Store nearby for wooden shapes!
As for websites I like greyfeathertoys.com(great sale prices on bulk parts),birdb.com (good price on leather strip)
I am still new at this my new baby (TAG 3 wks old) hasn't even come home yet so any suggestions/sharing would be greatly appreciated!!!
Looking for good place to get natural wood perches(manzanite, fruit tree banches etc) as well as any ideas anyone would like to share!!!

Thumbs up

You've got great ideas here. I take broken toys and refix them with new parts. But I like your idea and I'm going to start shopping around for some ideas from the dollar stores. One more thing.!!!!!!! I'm in Delaware, and our dollar general stoe is starting to sell bird toys and dishes, alot cheaper than the bird store that's for sure.

We found lots of deals on wood shapes (predrilled), leather and plastic toy parts on Ebay over the holidays. We also use Michaels for the straw hats and other misc. items to make toys with. We love to spend time putting together new stuff.

Toys

I've made most of the toys that my birds play with. My CAG loves adding machine paper. It was easy to make a holder from a wooden stacking toy. We just put a perch holder on the end(you know the little screw in thing, I don't know what they are called) Our macaws get wood to shred from Home Depot. A 2x4 untreated only costs about $2. they even cut it for me into 4 inch pieces. Hubby then drills a center hole and we string them on chain. I've even dyed some with Kool aide. You can really be creative if you need to be.

I make most of the toys for my birds. If I buy a toy and they destroy it, I take the remaining good parts and recycle them.

The whole family gets involved in making the toy and they showing it to the birds. Our birds love the new toys.

well I live in Peru and have to make everything for my bird I just had his cage made with a wall mounted bracket to hang it on that can be moved room to room that so far seems to work well when guest come. His perch and swings also are made to order the onlythig that limets me is my mind and his likes. I have a realy easy one though It is a rope swing that he loves you get a thick rope like for climbing at the hight you fell your bird will be happy with and a ring big enugh for the bird to hang from and a hook. Tie the rope to the ring and make a loop at the other end to hang from the hook you can do this at deferent hights and presto you have a work out room for your baby.
