teflon and non stick surfaces on cookware

Hello. I have a Nanday Conure and have read that teflon and non-stick surfaces can harm him. I need to find a safe electric griddle because my eight year old can not live without his pan cakes. Thanks in advance for your help. Oscar8

:) Honestly, I use my non-electric Cast Iron griddle, and it works lovely. Cast Iron is a wonderful alternative to teflon, once you get the hang of it.

We cook our pancakes in stainless steel with a tad of butter (makes them yummy anyway) and they dont stick. I am sure you can get a ss electric skillet or try the cast iron (which is supposed to make fantastic pancakes too).

PTFE may also be found in other things as well.. such as ovens, hair dryers, toasters, and similar appliances.

I googled this topic the other day after reading a post on bb about it
Eco-friendly Cookware Exclusively at Wal-Mart
Ok the link didn't work but the brand is 'Starfrit alternative' and the range of the cookware is ceram-eco available at walmart (but not in Australia)
