I'm looking after my friends budgie......

My friend, Holly has had a budgie since easter last year and now she is selling it because her mum MADE her because she doesn't look after it very well. At first I didn't like it that her mum made her but today I was at her house and her cage was filfy! i looked in her food bowl and i blew out all the husk and the food looked old her perches filfy! and her droppings look all watery. I asked when the last time she took him (she thought it was a boy) out of the cage she said around a 1 WEEK AGO! so I took her out of the cage and pointed out that she was a SHE. I played with her and asked if I could buy her and she said that she really wished i could because i would take really good care of her but someone els is and she ddn't even think about it she just said yes, and she has NEVER wanted a budgie!. Now when ever Holly asks when she is going to pick up Sky(the budgie) she says i dont want her anymore then about seven minutes later she changes her mind. But for now I am looking after her until the buyer comes to pick her up. I've mixed her food with some of my budgie food given her some chickweed and cleaned out her cage and caged her water.
Holly is NOT crew she just got bord with Sky and she wants him to leave so he will get a better home....but i wish it was mine!!

Who cares about the other person, just keep it, and tell Holly to call them and tell them someone picked it up.

Don't ask... this is going to sound really bad, but take this advice....

If you ask, it will be an open ended question.

Tell her. Tell her you are keeping the bird and paying for it, that you aren't letting someone else have it.

While it sounds harsh, just put it out there as though the bird is yours, and you would be surprised what happens. Its easy to argue with a question, its much harder to argue with a statement.

Why hasn't the other person picked it up?
You taking car of it... I think you should be the one to keep it :)
... You should leave your friend a note saying you are keeping the budgie and leave the money folded inside the note... and just leave it at that.
You get the budgie, and everyones happy. Oh and the other person gets to go and save one from a shelter :)
Better yet, you go down to the shelter, save a budgie, and then swap it for your friends... she then sells that budgie to the other person... and again everyones happy!!!
