Thinking of getting a 2nd bird

I am in the process of adding a second bird to our family. I would like to rehome an older bird. I have been reading and looking for a couple of weeks now, trying to figure out which bird would be the right bird for us. I really like the Toos and the Greys but because of dust issue and my husband has asthma, those two are out. So I guess what I am looking for is someone to campare the macaws to my zon, and tell me what to expect with a macaw. And then someone who has two zons to tell me of their experience. I have read that if you have a male zon and get another they might fight, you need to get a bird that doesn't look like your bird. One other question about breeding. I do not want to breed birds. But if I were to get another zon and it was a female (I have a Male), how do you stop them? I would of course have seprate cages for them, but they would most likely be out most of the day with me. Would a male zon be ok with a female macaw?
Please help me with these questions
Thanks

don't know the answers to your questions, but think it's great that you're doing some research instead of just going out and getting another bird. amazon's are awesome birds.
a macaw sounds like a good companion? a friend of mine has a b/g macaw and an amazon. she's had them for over 20 years and they get along fine. the macaw is a female the zon a male.
