well, they dont shoot poo like everyone thinks, but their poo is softer than parrot poo, and blueberry poo is the worst cause its really dark and usually more watery. but, it does NOT stain, so thats the good thing, its actually really easy to wipe off :) even when it dries on the cage grates and stuff, its very easy to wipe off :)

haha this thread went from birds eating, to what happes AFTER birds eat! lol relating to the original thread, Ash has her own perch on a chair at the kitchen table so that she's got her own spot. She eats with us if the dinner isn't bad for her. Her plate is usually filled with all her favorites and the same as mine... but of course my plate is the one that I'm so interested in, so it must be better than hers! She also has a crevice on her branch that I poke food into, she loves picking thing out like spaghetti, spinach and rice. She is allowed to go on the table but nowhere past her area, and NEVER onto anyone elses plate. She's stolen out of my mouth before, and it isn't pleasant!
Oh and yes all birds are lactose intolerant, because they aren't mammals and don't suckle milk like we do! They can digest milk products in very small amounts, and cheese is ok (only a little though!) because it has a small amount of lactose after all its processing. Mmmm blueberry poo...!

When we set the table for dinner we set it for the conures as well. They each sit on the back a chair turned around to face the table. We hang 2 bowls off the back of the chair and put a plate on the table to catch the mess. They LOVE dinner time, and this way they only get safe foods that have no come into contact with us.

Neither is clipped but they both stay put! This also makes me cook and eat healthy as I make sure I have a couple different kinds of veggies for them.

ccg- that's great! I wish Ash would stay put. She only recently learnt to fly, and is milking it for all its worth.

Caesar is so determined to get what ever I'm eating or drinking, which gets dangerous if I'm having a glass of wine!

I have to guard it whenever he's out, otherwise, first chance he gets, he's got his head in the glass and would be chugging it down if I didn't grab him off! Even if I get him his own glass of water to play with, he wants the wine! Maybe it smells fruity or something?

I usually put a bit of whatever I'm eating on the side of my plate, so Caesar can get it. I wash it if it has sauce on it. Otherwise he's be walking all over the plate, flicking food every which way.

I set out my plate and my CAG gets the first go. When she's done messing with it, then I get it. LOL

And no...I don't care where her beak has been I guess. It can't be any worse than the gov't mandated minimum amount of bugs in my breakfast.
