Unhappy Terrified Lovebird? =o(

Hi everyone, im new here!

Anyhow, Ive just gone out and got myself a beautiful lovebird - Ive named her Lily. Shes sweet and doesnt bite, but shes terribly afraid of me. So much so im scared she might have a heart attack. I take her out of her cage and hold her to my chest and gently stroke her back and wings, kiss her head ever so gently...But she never stops TREMBLING. (i temporarily distract her from her fear as i dangle my necklace in front of her for her to chew) On occasion she has also bitten her nails while in my hand. Shes only been with me 2 days now. Im beginning to suspect she wasnt hand fed/tamed from the start...When can i expect to see some improvement in her trust for me?

Im really worried...Im not very experienced with birds.
Id greatly appreciate any input!

give her some time. Take it slow. Sit next to her cage and talk to her. Let her warm up to you.

Ya, maybe even buy her some more toys. I was thinking a nice flower mirror and those tent like beds so she can hide out when shes feeling scared...I play many lovebird videos from youtube and she chirps right along with the birds she hears...Im hoping the sounds comfort her.

lovebirds

my lovebird wont even let me hold him so you are one step ahead of me. i also bought a lovebird from a pet store. they probably hand fed them but once they put them in those cages for sell they dont socialize the bird. something i found out after i purchased my lovebird. i still have hope he will come around. i have had him for 3 days he wont let me touch him he wont stay in his cage i am trying to get him used to me . today he let me come near him he even made the first move but when i tried to touch him he ran away. dont give up. your lovie will get used to you

Red face

My Lily just finished giving me the brightest ray of hope i could hope for. Shes just falling asleep and she let me put my face almost beak to nose while i made soft kissing noises and told her to sleep cuz mommys here and wont let anything happen to her. She didnt even flinch. Closed her eyes...(right in front of me) and just burried her face in her wing. She wudnt do that unless she had some trust, would she? She even let me touch her feet a bit.
