Need Some Help About My Amazon
Hi All,
I am new and I had posted this also on the UpToSix Chat forum, so if anyone visits that one and has already read it, I apologize, but I really need some input as I am uneasy. My Amazon parrot, Chilli, was diagnosed today with a yeast infection and slight bacterial infection. My vet, who is an excellent avian certified vet so don't get me wrong, I trust her, prescribed Baytril and also Diflucan. Chilli has taken Difulcan before but not Baytril. I have read so many bad and dangerous things about Baytril online. While I know the internet is full of bogus BS, when you see the same thing so much (dangers of Baytril in birds) it does make you uneasy. Does anyone know why there is so much online about Baytril? I need to start her on it tomorrow and I am a bit worried. Chili apparently got the yeast infection as I had given her a slight bit more apple slices then I normally do and did not get home in time to get them out in a few hours, so the vet feels the sugar in it gave way to the yeast overgrowth, etc, especially if they fermented a bit. My main concern now is the Baytril and that Chill be ok. She is acting pretty good (even before I took her in to vet today) but I took her anyway to be safe. I will give her the Diflucan but am worried about the Baytril. Can anyone shed light on why it gets such bad press and have you guys used it without any problems. Thanks so much for any input to anyone. |
