saltines

Yes, you can feed the birds saltines. Just get the ones with no salt on them. Mine make such a mess with those. I give the grey the whole package and let her rip through the paper too.

Cory has a new favorite now. We get unsalted corn chips seasoned with lime from the Mexican aisle in the grocery. She goes crazy if she sees them!

Ricki, my grey, wants anything I eat. In fact, if she sees me puttering around the kitchen, she starts with, "Is it good? Want some!". If I'm getting something she can't have, I just give her a carrot. She loves Italian anything, fruit, veggies, chicken (is that caniballism), GRITS and eggs, but she goes nuts for fried catfish, which she rarely gets, and if I throw in a little Mountain Dew, she's in birdie heaven. If her food is warm, she likes it even better.

Petey, my Green Cheek loves fruit and fruit flavored pellets. Those he dunks in his water dish before eating.

As long as it's on my plate and not his, my quaker will eat anything! His favorite though is McDonald's cheeseburgers (no mustard or ketchup). He also likes big parrot food like peanuts and pumpkin seeds, he's so cute when he holds that big food with his little parrot feet! When he's out of it, he makes sure to drop all of the shells over the edge of his cage to let me know he's out and that he wants more! His other faves include: fries, baked potato, fruit muffins, lettuce, pizza, Vietnamese and Thai food, and bottled water (i know it's not food, but he loves drinking out of a water bottle! I just get tired of having to hold it for him.)

I just gave Percy a bit of a saltine and she apparently LOVES it. I broke the rest of the cracker up and stuck it in her seed and pellet dish and she just grabbed a big piece and walked off with it! She was then holding it with a foot and nibbling on it, and she has tried several times to walk up her ladder with the cracker in her mouth and she drops it every time and goes back down to retrieve it, dropping it over and over.

She also loves cherry blossom snacks that I bought at the pet store. They have lots of Vitamin A in them and she needs this so these are good snacks for her every once and a while.
