Mike:
I agree with Lisa, that's a lot for a 10 year old TAG. I'm thinking WITH cage for $700 or $400 for the bird. Maybe I'm living on another planet, but that's what I would expect to pay for a re-cycled TAG. That's about what I paid for Radar when she was 3 from her first home. However, I'd be a liar if I said that price ever detered me from anything. I've said it a thousand times: the RIGHT bird is worth whatever you have to pay and the WRONG bird is overpriced EVEN if its free. I hope you can work something out with the shop keeper. Perhaps you could work off your debt by cleaning cages at night or something along those lines. Its always worth a try. If she's there a while, your best offer will look more and more appealing. Try to visit her often, but wait until you cut your best deal. Frankly, I've told you before, the TAG is the most overlooked terrific parrot on the bird market today. If they had a bright red tail, you wouldn't be able to buy them for twice the price. I'm gonna follow this thread very closely. THE OUTLAW

I hope you'll give us an update. I have a very strong pull toward the Timneh's myself and I hope you can bring Gracie home. When I fell in love with Mulberry, I thought there was no way I would ever get him. The price was $1800!!! I visited him once a week and just could not get him out of my mind. I finally asked my brother for a loan, and then I went in and offerred the store owner $1000 cash, and he took it. What a happy day that was. Three months later, the other owner ended up giving me Cypress. None of us had realized it, but over the 2.5 years that Mulberry had been in that store, he had been caged next to one of the owners birds (Cypress) and they had bonded. No one could understand why Cypress looked so poorly, chewed feathers, etc. When I walked through the door to my apartment with Cypress, Mulberry went wild with joy. Those boys are inseparable. Anyway, a bit of a sidetrack there, but I am hoping here that Gracie gets to come home with you. Please do keep us posted. And oh, I payed my brother back $100 a month for a year (had to get some money for a cage, too, LOL) but it was all worth it. ;~)
