Do your fids have "Godparents"?

Ok Im just wondering if anyone else has designated Godparents for their fids? I do because if something were to happen to me, say a freak car accident or something I do not want my fids going with god knows who! I have split my fids into 2 groups and arranged with 2 people to take certain fids. I also have a back up God parent incase for some reason one of the others was unable at the time to do it. Now the back up God parent is not allowed to sell the fids without calling the previous godparent first to be sure they can not take them still. Things may change here and there with wich person gets wich birds, depending on if 2 birds bond etc. This is all to be typed up and a copy of it sent to the godmothers, as well as a copy being kept on my fridge and a copy im my purse/wallet at all times.

So do any of you have something like this set up?

BF and I live in different states, so as of now chances are very slim that something would happen to both of us. We'd take each others birds.
However, generally I'm leaning towards Gayla (gbird) as godparent... not sure she knows that Have to ask her

I'm Pita's godmom in case something comes up with Gayla, and we've already successfully mastered an unfortunate "test-run" when Gayla had a car accident, and Pita came to stay with me for 2months

I think it's important to consider what will happen to the birds in case of an accident, illness etc. Nobody really wants to think about it, but nobody's safe either

Good post

Well things are set up that anything should ever happen to me my husband will take care of things. Before that was arranged I had it set up that 2 of my friends would take care of finding homes for my flock that continues to grow but then recently one of our friend's unexpectedly passed away.

Well, MABIRD & I have claimed the status of GODPARENTS to each other's critters! LOL But it is known should anything happen to me, my room mate keeps my cat, my mother gets my dog and my ex's sister is to take my birds cos she is the only one near me who has bird knowledge.

LOL...No I didn't know that....I thought I was just Aunty Gayla......

Yes, Bee is Pita's Godmommie, as she said, and she is the best darn Godmommie ever. She was there in a flash when Pita & I needed her. Thank God.

Everyone should make arrangements for thier birds. Unlike dogs & cats, birds a bit more complex, and not just anyone can take them.

I'd like to think that my family/bf would not sell my birds /get rid of them if I died. I'd want them to stay in a familiar place. I don't have official godparents for them, though. lol

My niece knows that should anything happen to me, she gets Sunny. I don't have anything in writing, but that is the plan.

I have godparents within my immediate family that would take the birds..
I am also a godparent for other birdie friends out there :) Its really a good idea to have a plan in place in case anything was to happen.

Pita is also in my will. When I die, Bee gets Pita. In case she can't take him, I am leaving him to The Gabriel Foundation.

I have my petsitter on my cell phone as one of my ICE's, a good friend who is included in my will as guardian of my cats and birds, and a back-up humane society (that I have worked with over the years) as guardian in the unlikely event that she is not available. Yes, I do worry about these things at two in the morning!
