Skye's play pen
I made this from an $8.00 washing basket, a $18.00 rope perch, newspaper at the bottom and toys (which I already had). Skye uses it mainly while we are away at volleyball comps that way she can be with us and watch what is happening, without too much drama.

what a neat little travel play-basket! Great idea, even to take from room to room! Thanks! One question; the screw-in ends of the twisted rope perch... how are they fastened to the basket? Did you just cut a hole? Or is there some sort of magic trick to it? ;-) Savvy* |

The play pen was an idea i read somewhere, other people used cane baskets, but I could not find a decent sized one here, so I decided that a plasic washing basket would suffice and is probably easier to clean. The basket has opening on each end of it where you would carry it when doing the washing, it also has holes around the sides of it for decoration and airing for the clothes I suppose. The rope perches have plastic screw ends on them. You unscrew each end and put it through an opening or a hole, depending on where you want the perch to be, then screw the ends back on to keep the perch in place. It actually works as a handle to transport the playpen from place to place and to car for me too. Hope I have explained it properly. If you look carefully at the photo you can see an opening or hole near the top edge on the front of the playpen, there are one of those on each end of the basket and that is what the rope perch is sort of screwed into. Go to a pet shop and have a good look at the rope perches and see how the plastic ends have an unscrew cap thingy. (like my descriptive language - lol). With Skyes travel cage it is actually a cat/dog plastic travel box which I nailed a wooden perch into. My hubby drilled a couple of holes on the top big enough for a small rope perch to be attached so Skye had somewhere to sit on top of her travel box, it also acts like a handle to carry the box from place to place.
