I do not want to risk losing another little one so I would like to know if anyone knows if this wood can be disinfected or if I should just disgard it and buy another one? Thanks for your suggestions.

Linda - first of all, I am so sorry about your nape. I an an avid supporter of PDD research. This is such a horrible disease. Since it is such an enigma, and so much more is needed to be discovered before one can feel safe, my suggestion is to toss the stand. Better safe than sorry. Having gone through this once, I know you will not want to go through it again... and you will never feel comfortable anyway each time your new baby plays on it. JMHO.
