Teeny tiny bugs? It might be mites! Keep him away from your birds. I was at petsmart today and I saw some bottles of mite/lice spray that you can spray on birds to kill them. If it is mites, the baby might be miserable.

I found a baby grackle once. It was huddled against my garage door in the alley and it was most certainly a matter of minutes before an alley cat was going to kill it. I put it in a box with a stuffed animal in a bathtub in a room that I dont use. I found it on a Sunday early evening and everything was closed. I was in the same dilemma as you. Here is what I did:

I went to the grocery store and bought baby tylenol so that I would have an eye dropper from the box. I looked up how to feed a baby bird online (I cant remember now). Maybe feed it every 3 hours? I also bought dry dog food and wet cat food. I did as vle1170 did. I used the dropper to feed it. The next day it was crying at dawn to be fed, which I did. I had to go to work. I put the baby in the box in the car and put it under the dash. I parked the car in the bottom of the parking garage (the coolest area) and put the cat food in a fridge in the breakroom. I knew it couldnt stay at home all day without being fed. I snuck out to feed it several times. At the end of the day, I took it to a bird rescue. They said it was healthy and would make it. :) Are you sure the rescue wont take it? I also brought a baby mockingbird to them as well. They had tons of baby birds there that they were handfeeding. Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

Your baby needs to be fed soon and often if it hasnt eaten all day.

I dont know what to tell ya about the bugs... I know they will eat him up if you dont get them off. You cant put anything on him. In the morning I would call a vet and maybe they can help you or give you the number to a wild animal rehabber. I would feed him every 3-4 hours. He will probably let you know when hes hungry... his head will go back and that big ole mouth will open up anytime you get near him. I would keep him in a warm/dark place and far away from any pet birds you may have. Also, make sure you wash your hands up really good after having contact with him.

it looks like every 3-4 hours, look at the crop, try not to let it get completely empty.

Do not spray the cat flea and tick spray on him... it will kill him. Yes you will have to get up during the night and feed him.
