UT's travel in very small flocks of under a dozen unlike other birds. Therefore, they establish a more intimate relationship with their flock, which is why they are great family birds.

What a great thread.
Thought I'd add my bit for 'tiels
The Cockatiel (Nymphicus hollandicus), also known as the Quarrion and the Weero, is the smallest and genuinely miniature cockatoo endemic to Australia. They are prized as a household pet throughout the world and are relatively easy to breed. As a caged bird Cockatiels are second in popularity, to only the Budgerigar.

The only member of the genus Nymphicus, the Cockatiel has previously been considered a crested parrot or small cockatoo. However, more recent molecular studies have settled the debate, indicates that the Cockatiel belongs in the Cockatoo Subfamily Calyptorhynchinae (commonly known as Dark Cockatoos) They are hence now classified as the smallest of the Cacatuidae (Cockatoo family). Cockatiels are natively found across the outback regions of inland Australia, and favour the Australian wetlands, scrublands, and bush lands.
So I may have cheated a bit and copied and pasted but thought it was interesting!!

Inner Beauty

Proverbial LBJ (little brown job). Not a looker but PLENTY personality... the Streaky Headed Canary. Eats mainly seeds of weeds and grasses, fruit, nectar and flowers. Also feed on insects, taking termite alates from the air. Albert (Einstein - 'cause he looked so 'wise' as a baby) was set free a week ago and i miss him loads. Shared aviary with "exotics" for many months and was never intimidated or insecure (maybe 'cause no mirror in aviary).

The Patagonian Conure is native to 'Patagonia', South America - an area consisting of central Chile and northern Argentina. In their native environment, Patties like to build nests in cliffs and have the ability to burrow several feet in. :^)

The Jenday Conure, Golden-Capped Parakeet and Sulphur-Breasted Parakeet are sometimes considered to be subspecies of the Sun Conure. It has also been suggested that the Sun Conure and Sulphur-Breasted Parakeet are one species, while the Jenday Conure and Golden-Capped Parakeet are one species.

ALSO (and I found this very interesting), the Sulphur-breasted parakeet was not discovered until 2005 because it was always thought to be an immature Sun Conure due to its plumage!

Indian ringneck

The Rose-ringed Parakeet (Psittacula krameri), also known as the Ringnecked Parakeet, is a gregarious tropical parakeet species that is popular as a pet. Its scientific name commemorates the Austrian naturalist Wilhelm Heinrich Kramer.

This non-migrating species is one of few parrot species that have successfully adapted to living in 'disturbed habitats', and in that way withstood the onslaught of urbanisation and deforestation. In the wild, this is a noisy species with an unmistakable squawking

Rainbow lorikeets are known to eat the tiny seeds of the casuarina tree when nectar is scarce, maneuvering the seeds out of the hard cone with their tongues. These are the only seeds they have ever been seen to eat in the wild.

Budgies are rated as one of the top 5 talking birds in the world along with African Greys, Indian Ringnecks,Quakers and, Amazons.

The native austalians used the name budgerygar for these colourful birds which means "good to eat"
