Educational Game!

How about this...
Take one of your birds you have and tell One thing about its country of origin, its Diet in nature, its nesting habits or breeding habits.
ONE THING.
DONT REPEAT anything already said about YOUR species so you have to come up with something different.
This is a great way for us to learn about our own birds and help the new bird owners. This thread could go on and on and be VERY educational. If we all READ it to not repeat information. Maybe we could sticky it??
Here we go......

SI Eclectus

The Solomon Island Eclectus is from, where else, but the Solomon Islands. In case you don't know, the Solomon Islands are a little north east of Austrailia. The eclectus birds come in three varities, but the Solomon Island are the smallest, and the females of this genus are considered among the best of the species females to keep as pets, as the sI females are considered the least 'hormonal.'

African grey - Africa - stay in LARGE flocks who like to forage on the ground with a half a group of Lookouts high in an old dead tree and then they switch places, keeping to themselves and not flocking with other species.
Anybody know how many in a flock????

African grey - Africa

The Latin name Psittacus Erithacus means "Parrot with a little bit of red".

Observations made in the mid-1990's in Africa by Dr. Irene Pepperberg’s student, Diana May, showed Grey Parrots in many separate groups of five or six birds within flocks consisting of hundreds of Greys.

You do know this thread has me doing research. Love this forum don't you guys!

Made it a sticky for you!!

Baby Sun Conures have a very different appearance than adults, and actually look like a different species of Conure, one called a Jenday Conure. Many breeders get these two birds confused, and so people are surprised when their bird molts and turns a beautiful orange and yellow.
