Preening Question.
Hey, I brought Kermit, a QP, home today and he constantly preens himself. I was just wondering what that was all about. I have visited him at the breeders since he was a week old and never noticed it. Just for extra info, he is about 7 weeks old.
Thanks in advance. Brian |

It would be a good idea to take Kermit to an avian vet to get a base line set up so you know what's normal for him now so that future testings could show abnormalities.... meaning blood work and fecal...
He may need time to settle in before he feels comfortable but make sure he's not cold.

along with taking him to the vet try getting him some fun preening toys, I have this peacock feather toy with 3 big feathers and he goes to town especially if you dip them in water.
I know some birds like rope perches and ive seen booda make some rope perches with a fuzzy end to preen, Ive also seen abaca or sisal preening toys. Kermit is a really cute name by the way and congrats on your new baby! |
