What should I do....?

I have 9 birds, 2 greys, 5 budgies, a dove and wild fledgling Waxwing that is more social than the budgies, two cats, some fish, a rainbow crab and a water dragon. At the vets today (bela's annual), I learned there's a red bellied parrot on death row at the county animal control facility (it's 5 minutes from my house). I really don't need another bird, but I'm being drawn towards this one. Wondering if I should adopt it and see about rehoming it. Honestly, the only reason I'm seriously thinking about it is because the poor thing is in a county pound. Am I a nut for thinking this way and does anyone know of someone looking for a red bellied parrot in Illinois?

Somehow i just have a feeling I'll have another beak to feed tomorrow.

I would certainly rescue it (which may be why I have so many birds)!

I too would rescue it. This to is probably why I, too have so many birds. I myself could not let it sit in county lock up. Best of luck on your very tough choice to make.

I would go get him! Even if you have to place him in another home - better than him staying there or being put down!

I would get him if he were here too. He'll probably end up being your favorite bird. Hey, I was wondering, Do they make you pay if they are about to euthanize the animal? They shouldn't. My sister volunteers daily at the humane society shelter in her county. She always tells me if they get a bird, but they always get homes.

You all are right and yes, you know I want to.

Leaving work early and going to see if he's still there. Their hours on Friday are Noon to 430pm. I tried calling, but I just get the stupid voice recording message.

Thinking more and more about this, I'm wondering if maybe I should look into foster homing some of these guys. They mostly get cats and dogs but I've seen Budgies time and again and hamsters.

Where's that millionaire husband I've been looking for lol. I need a bigger house, tho, I'd probably fill that to capacity too.

Will let you all know what happens.

Well, no Red Bellied there, but they did have a Quaker come in that a staff member adopted. So, I'm happy birdie has a home.

I also found out they're no kill. Thank goodness! But I will check in every now and then.
