Update
I wrote a really long Post and somehow it got deleted so to save time I am going to update you all on Jasper through an email I wrote the Moderator of the Parrolet board.. so here is the News
Jasper didnt make it... I however went over to the pet store and in my angry tears ranted and raved to the gentleman who sold me Jasper, asked them to give me my money back or give me another solo Parrolet I really wanted my money back so I could go buy another one from the breeder I bought my Conure through because the Guy is Awesome, and knows so much about birds down to the Avian Veterinarians to take them too, but they wouldnt give me my money back they did however give me another Little Parrolet, I think it may be a female but Im not so sure The Males and Females look so much alike.. and I can ALREADY see a HUGE difference in this birdy he/she is Chirpy, Playful, and Sweet, He/She was in a Cage with about 5 or 6 other Little Parrolets which I am assuming were its brothers/sisters, the biggest difference is it isnt a breeder and thats what counts.. I came home with it boiled all of Jaspers little Manzanita perches and toys, bought some new feeding cups, added a few new toys to its enviroment and completely washed and cleaned his little cage with Healthy Habitat Cleaning Solution.. I honestly dont think Jasper was sick but just in case I didnt want to take any chances and so far the Little bird is doing Great... I have been handling it a bit, but not too much I dont want to stress it out usually in the evening after everyone including Mango Tango my Green Cheek Conire (who is just a baby too) goes to bed, I will take it out and hold it an assure it i am not going to hurt it..and get it used to me it took Jasper almost a month to bond to me and stop biting me so I am assuming using Bird Psychology that it will take this Little one about that long. I dont have a name for it yet (HINT HINT) but he/she is doing well so far and I am hoping it is just happy birdy days from here on out I cant go through another Heartbreak like the one I did with my Little Guy Jasper so Anyone who is thinking about purchasing a bird of any kind from a Pet Store keep my story in Mind Dont buy a bird that is with a bonded mate, and dont assume a Pet Shop knows anything about the birds they sell because if you do your taking a chance on getting bird that will fall so deep into depression that it just cant make it no matter how much you love them.. If any of you Live in California close to the Central valley i strongly reccomend that you dont go through Pet Stores, that you check Cedar Hill Birds out in Lodi California the guy and his wife are amazing breeders who hand raise their babies to be awesome pets.. the owner of this place also Sells Birds wholesale but steer away from Pet Stores and just go see him directly he can tell you anything you need to know about birds and Sell them to you for a great affordable price.. plus he gives you names to all of the Avian Vets in this area and will board your birds for you if you have to go out of town.. and dont have someone you can depend upon to take care of you babies, ontop of all of this he also holds educational classes has Top Vets come in from all over the Country for well bird clinic and they can clip their toes and wings for a very affordable price so check him out I will actually be going through him really soon for some Lorikeets I plan on purchasing and breeding my hope is to establish a great Store in my area that will do exactly what this guy does with his stores and educate people on the joys of being a bird owner.. Talk to you all soon !! Cristl |

Well I'm glad you didn't lose out totally and you have a new baby to love...
I gather that parrotlets are pretty easy to sex, so don't waste money on getting him/her DNA'd. Here's a site with info on what to look for to determine sex, but if you can't figure it out I'm sure someone here will when you post a pic... Little Tweet Parrotlet Breeders | Sexing Parrotlets So get to figuring out this little guys sex and then the fun part can start... naming! |
