You must be excited about getting him/ her! You should research the species before you get it, meet and handle your bird once you've planned to get it and made a deposit- so that you know what to expect. All parrots are/ can be screamers. Some scream more, some less. There are a few species that are less prone to screaming. Hopefully a black cap owner will come along and give some info on that particular species, but if you don't want screaming. I hope it won't be much of an issue if your baby ends up doing it every once in a while!

I have a black capped, and for the most part she's really quiet. If she's with me, she never makes a noise louder than a purr. But if she can hear me downstairs, or talking on the phone, it's a looottt of screaming. A black caps scream isn't as loud as a sun's scream, so it's not too bad, and after a while I can totally tune it out.
She's just over a year old. |
