Rico found his favorite music!

Ok, I've only had Rico for about four months now and he is my first bird. I've read to leave the tv on for them or play music. I don't know where I was reading this yesterday, but it stated to play Mozart for your bird. Well, boy was I getting it wrong. I tried smooth jazz for a while. Then at certain times of the day I would play disco for him. Well, he never seemed to take any obvious interest in the music I was playing and I didn't really expect him too. Yesterday and today I put on the classical music. I think he slipped into a coma. Everytime I turn it on he gets that glazed look in his eye...his feathers fluff up around his beak and he's comatose for an hour or so. I am finding this pretty handy! He also does this when I play any Dean Martin CD.

Monkey (our lovebird) and the finches usually take a pretty keen interest in any Vivaldi or Paganini I play for them. But instead of fluffing up they cheep and peep like crazy. But whenever I take a guitar into their room, they get scared. At least I think it's the guitar that scares them.

Unfortunately I can't really play anything by Paganini on guitar. And he's definitely my favorite classical composer. :aiwebs_02

And I love Mozart's "Requiem," but I don't want to cause any birdie suicides. :aiwebs_00

My GC Conure has to endure piano lessons and does so quite quite admirably I must say..but I was truly amazed when he actually started swaying and bobbing to Andrea Bocelli....I'm going to see what he does to Pavaroti!

Depends on the bird for sure. Mine like zydeco (sp). I don't care for it, but one year at Mardis Gras season, Public Radio was playing it and all of the birds got totally jazzed. The also love disco. I think that's because I dance around the house vacuuming and cleaning. My house hasn't been anywhere near as clean since Donna Summer hung up her dancin' shoes (lol). If you own an Amazon, I PROMISE you they'll be thrilled with any opera or human singing. They are the true music lovers in the parrot world. Don't know about country music (I detest it) but pretty much every thing else around here has a fan.
My macaws LOVE Sesame street CD's. Especially Elmo. He has a voice that they all like.

My husband and I are D.J.s, so we are always listening to new music around the house. Unfortunately, Charlie doesn't seem to care for any of it. She screams until its turned off. I guess it's time to invest in wireless headphones.

My birds have dance music and calm music. Calm music is nature sounds with classical music playing softly in the background. I pick up the CDs at goodwill and salvation army stores for two or three bucks

for dance music we put on Disney Sing Along Songs. Nothing like a rousing Under the Sea to get every birdie boogieing LOL

ok...you guys are going to laugh...
My guys have thier own radio. Each bird prefers differnt music...
however, they all LOVE it when I sing to them along with the radio.
The most notable one who loves her music is my little Miss Emma Lynn(special able CAG) she LOVES Martina Mcbride....She sits there and sings along with it...not bird noises..but actually sings "dooooo..do ...dooooooooooooo" and draws it out when Martina is holding a note. Emma also likes Santana and Pink Floyd. However....it is hilarious to watch her when she "gets the LED out" ( a Led Zeppelin program on the local station every night at 7pm. )
She screams, yells, whistles, and most importantly....... head bangs**lmao**
You can hear her outside the house enjoying herself....guess not all that different then her mom growing up in the 80's**LMAO**
