I LOVE IT !!! That picture with the beads is awesome. I recognize the Sun Conure and I think the smaller one is a Pionus but what is the bird with the blue head ??? He looks like someone tossed about twenty paint buckets on him. Absolutely gorgeous.

Well I got Joe bird when he was estimated to be about 8 years old. He is a bold little guy, has no fear! I got him just before Sunshine, he was my 3rd bird. Started out with budgies and wanted something to actually pet. He was so sweet to me, hated my hubby at first, then all of a sudden he became a daddy's bird! Well after awhile he just settled in. He lets us know when he wants to be cuddly, and will stick to you like glue! But if he wants his space, you just let him have it or he will nip ya! He is getting up there, but still spry! LOL I got him at a Vet/Outdoor bird paradise where you can go pet exotics in San Diego, they have lots of Too's on perches and I used to go there on my lunch and pet the birds and fell in love with the cuddly too's! So I went on a mission and found Sunshine from a breeder and called hubby on the way home, told him..."I'm on my way home and I am not alone!" Well 11 years later here we are and Joe bird and Sunshine are part of the family. Joe has always been a great bird. Sunshine can be a real pain, but I love them both very much!

Joe sounds just like squibly. seems like he'll never be the 'velcro bird' that Boo is. but that's cool, he's not really mine, he belongs to the other half.. i just clean up and feed and water and buy him toys...

what did your husband say when you got home with sunshine? i got my cocky when i was still living with my mum. i never told her i ws getting him. she just came home one day, i was setting up the cage inside the house and she was FURIOUS. she started yelling that i shouldn't have gotten a bird without her permission blah blah blah when george pipes up with 'shut up' at her. it was the funniest thing i ever heard, i didn't even know what words he could say, and after that my mum loved him.. (until he escaped the cage and ripped up all the paper in the house, tore the keys off her computer keyboard and nibbled & poo'd all over her expensive dining table..) heheh there's nothing better than a cuddly too, even that white dust you are always covered in is a reminder of how cuddly they can be..

Are you gonna have kids? or are your birds the only kids you need? lol

Well, he knew I was out "looking" and said, don't bring a bird home with you. I had been to a few places already on the weekends. So he knew I was on a mission, but I hadn't found one yet! Luckly some friends of ours had stopped by the house and were there when I got home! Whew! I had to bring her home! We bonded so well, and she was 3 months old, I had a lot of love to give but didn't have much money and since we hit it off so well and she was the last of that batch of U2's they let me take her home for 500 bucks! Gave me a small old cage to get her home with and her papers.
The first thing she did when I came home was poop on the floor, luckly it was on one of those chair matts people use at their desks to help the chairs roll around on. His eyes got so big I knew right then I would teach her to be potty trained right away! So we used a small trash can, learned when she would need to go, and place her over the trash can and say "Go potty" She caught on right away, then hubby found a big wicker basket that we turned into her on the go perch. Hubby covered the handle with rope and it had a cute cover that went on the bottom part of the basket. It could be used for playing on and hold her toys. We used to take them down to the bay and let them enjoy the coastal air and sun He warmed up to the birds back then rather well. We would take Joe is a small cage too and let him sit on top in the sun or sit on us! But after many years of getting bit one to many times he was done! Now they just kind of tolerate each other. Since she knows he is afraid and dosen't trust her she will nip him. But not with me, I can kiss and hug and scratch her as much as I want! But ya know it seems those darn birds actually would prefer to cuddle with him! Or so it seems. I am just the cook, maid and I keep them in supplys of toys and treats! Whats a bird Mom to do?! LOL

dammit! I've been gone for too long:) The pics are gorgeous! I never thought of having a playdate with other birds- though we don't really know anyone with birds other than my parents... poo!

Someday! Hey, maybe my dream of moving to Australia will finally happen:)
