Coconut and Eclectus

I bought a fresh coconut at the Farmer's Market last week, and I've been feeding Nohea (my eclectus) pieces. He absolutely loves it (I'd advise keeping hands and feet away from the cage while he eats), but I'm a little worried about fat content because I heard ekkies are susceptible to fatty tumors.

Think it's okay to let him gnaw on it? I suppose I could use it as a training reward instead--I think he'd leap through flaming hoops and wrestle the cats for a chunk of coconut!

I've heard of others splitting them in two and hanging half in the cage for their Ekkie to play with. I tried it but oddly enough Sophie was scared of it!!

If I gave Nohea half he'd eat until he burst! He needs a coconut intervention as it is.
