Coco, Bailey, Kiwi Update 7/08

Coco (Macaw), Bailey (Tiel) & Kiwi (Amazon), are done with quarantine, and will begin socialization with other birds & people starting today. I have also asked about whether they will be available for adoption or just become sanctuary birds.

I will get more infomation today, and will post it as it comes in.

If anyonme is interested in sponsoring any of these birdy's, please contact me. They still have a long road ahead, and any help is appreciated. Thanx

Just a reminder of thier story:

TGF was called to pick up three parrots from a woman who lost her husband recently. They were his birds and she wasn't able to take care of them

Standing (and living) on top of a rusted old cage was Coco, a Greenwing Macaw. His beak was very thick and so long that it curled around up into his throat, causing him to make a constant squeaking sound. What was left of his feathers were still encased in keratin sheaths, he wasn't able to preen them because of his beak deformity. One of her back facing toes was facing forward, broken and twisted. She looked like the living dead.

Below Coco, inside of the rusty, bottomless cage, was Kiwi, an Orange-winged Amazon, who appeared disheveled and scared. The floor was covered close to a foot high with their feces and other debris. Next to them in another old cage was a cockatiel whose name she couldn't remember. She finally came up with Bailey. Later when I read the intake form, I saw that there she called him Jefferson.

She told us she had not handled any of them since the death of her husband. All three had nails so long they were like corkscrews. They probably had not moved from the spot where they were standing now in over two years.

Oh my gosh that is so sad i am so glad now that they have begun to have the care they need . god bless them and whoever takes them in . It is sad what ppl do to animals because they think they are worthless . It truly is sad . I wish i could take in one of them but i live too far away God love them and bless them.

That picture just infuriates me ! Obviously there had to have seen there was a problem!
Whe I got teal 8 weeks ago I thought ihis beak was too long (vet ended up taking 1 1/2 inches off). He had problems eating and chewing wood etc.
Now seeing this I realize teal wasn't bad at all.

That Macaw had to of screamed all the time!

no, no Teal is a blue and gold macaw! LOL

He is my newest rescue. That is what they named him Teal because of his color on his shoulders!
