Plans for building a cage???

After pricing cages (CagesByDesign,Avian Accents) my husband has now decided to build the birds a cage. He is planning on building a large, double cage for my amazon and grey. Does anyone know of a place to get plans for building a cage? My husband will do a nice job building, but I am concerned he is going to build something that is not suitable for the birds. Size is not a concern, but bird comfort, feeding and cleaning are concerns.

Hi Chibirdmama, I think that building a cage for your birds is a fantastic idea.seeing cages designes would be useful for you and your hasband.Here we built cages for our hens and cocks .... they are very gooood.

The most important thing to consider is the safety of the wire or bars. If he can weld, that's a plus. The other factor is wire or bar spacing. It is essential that the metals used have no zinc or lead. My husband welds and fabricates metals and couldn't really beat the prices of a good ready made cage unless he did a stainless steel version. That takes excellent welding skills.

A member of a yahoo group I am on made an awesome cage fror his fids out of stainless steel. That would be the way to go, for sure, if possible.
